New World’s First Expansion, Rise of the Angry Earth and Its Features

Amazon has announced the first full expansion for its open world MMO New World called Rise of the Angry Earth and set for release on October 3rd 2023, alongside New World Season 3 which will continue to take place with both Turkey Terror and Nightveil Hallow.

The Rise of the Angry Earth expansion will introduce mounts and a new weapon, while raising the level cap to 65, among other new features. It will cost $29.99 and require the base game. New players will be able to pick up both together for $69.99 as part of the New World: Elysian Edition bundle.

For players who want to get to try the expansion out before the launch, they can participate in Public Test Realm (PTR).

Rise of the Angry Earth Features

  • New Story

This is a new story arc, where the fallen First Light is devoid of its people and villages. However, the awakening of the Beast Lords has brought a newfound power to the area. While formidable enemies, defeating these Beast Lords will unlock the secret to taming and riding animals.

  • Mounts

The mount system will be a bit more complex than those in other MMORPG’s. Mounts will move faster when running on roads and sprint for a limited-time depending on their stamina. Players will also be able to level up their mounts to improve their capabilities either by participating in races or by feeding them treats. Mounts will initially be available in three types: Horses, Dire Wolves, and Cats/Lions. These mount types are purely aesthetic. Players will have access to a variety of cosmetic skins, gear, and dyes that they can use to further customize their mounts.

  • New Progression-level, Gear Score, and More

Players can increase their character’s level to 65 and Gear Score to 700 with new attributes to help power up their builds. Players also can increase Trade Skills to level 250 with new items to gather, refine and craft. They can complete a new Faction Quest and unlock a new Faction tier loaded with desirable gear and items.

  • New Gear Rarity

Players can find and equip Artifacts, a powerful new tier of weapons and armor. They can complete a series of quests and awaken the Artifact’s full potential by unlocking its six perks including one unique playstyle-defining perk to change their game.

  • New Weapon – Flail

A new, one-handed melee weapon that are dependent on Strength and Focus stats. It’s a good weapon choice for support roles like off-tanks and off-healers. It’s also the first weapon in the game with abilities that deal arcane damage.

  • A Zone Transformed – Elysian Wilds

The southeastern tip of Aeternum, formerly known as First Light, has been invaded by the powers of Artemis and the Angry Earth. Players can explore the raised structures of this magical newlandscape and battle the ferocious beasts that have taken refuge in the verdant, unsettled terrain.

  • New Expedition – The Savage Divide

This is a dangerous new Level 62+ Expedition that will have players tracking down the primordial Beast Lords.

  • New Heartrune Ability – Primal Fury

With this ne ability, players can unleash their inner beast to deal unarmed light and heavy attacks on enemies.
